Flexi Desk in Dubai Free Zones vs ADGM: Why They Aren't the Same Product
In many Dubai free zones a flexi desk comes with the licence. ADGM works differently. How the two compare and what an ADGM company needs.

How a shared office desk membership works in Abu Dhabi: what's included, access hours, rules, day pass vs monthly, and how to sign up. Flexi AED 1,000, Dedicated AED 1,150.
Shared office space Abu Dhabi professionals use works on a simple model: you pay a monthly membership for a desk in a common workspace, and the building, internet, coffee, meeting rooms and reception are shared with other members. At Aegis Coworking in Addax Tower, Al Reem Island, that membership comes in two desk types: a Flexi Desk at AED 1,000 per month and a Dedicated Desk at AED 1,150 per month.
This guide explains how a coworking membership works in practice: what each desk includes, access hours, the rules of a shared space, when a monthly desk beats a day pass, and the steps to sign up. It is written for freelancers, founders and small teams comparing a shared office Abu Dhabi option with a private lease, and particularly for businesses that need an address inside ADGM.
A desk membership is a recurring monthly plan that gives you a place to work in a shared area, plus the services around it. You do not sign a conventional office lease, buy furniture or run your own internet and utilities. Aegis lists no deposit, admin fees or setup fees on its plans, and the Dedicated Desk carries a one-time due diligence fee of AED 1,200, covering the compliance and background checks ADGM requires.
Two things separate a membership from a day pass. First, it is monthly, so the cost per working day falls the more you use it. Second, a desk membership can be connected to a business address, which matters if the desk supports an ADGM company. Our 2026 guide to ADGM coworking space costs compares all the options in one place.
Aegis's pricing page lists these inclusions for each desk type.

The difference between a flexi desk in Abu Dhabi Global Market and a dedicated desk coworking space membership comes down to permanence and address.
Some ADGM licence categories need a dedicated desk or office rather than flexi-desking. If you want a dedicated desk ADGM licence requirement answered for your category, check with ADGM before choosing. Our guide to the Tech Startup licence desk requirement shows one example.
Aegis lists 24/7 secure building access for both the Flexi Desk and the Dedicated Desk, so building access does not change between the two plans. Visitor arrangements are a separate question: ask how visitors are registered, how access is issued, and whether meeting rooms can be booked outside normal hours.
Aegis publishes no formal member rulebook on its plan pages, so ask for the house rules when you sign up. In a shared office, these are the points most providers cover:
A day pass costs AED 100 for 9 AM to 6 PM or AED 150 for 24 hours, and it includes a hot desk, coffee, WiFi and print and scan access. See the day pass page for the details. As a rule of thumb, a monthly membership beats day passes once you are in the space three days a week or more; for lighter use, or to try the space first, a day pass works out cheaper. For the full cost-per-day breakdown and exact break-even point, see why pay a premium for a desk and when a coworking day pass is worth it.
Aegis does not publish a step-by-step onboarding page, so the outline below is the typical sequence. Confirm each step with the team.
Location decides whether a desk can support an ADGM company. Only addresses on Al Maryah Island and Al Reem Island are inside ADGM's jurisdiction, and Aegis Coworking operates from Addax Tower on Al Reem Island, an ADGM business centre on the 38th floor. A shared office Abu Dhabi provider outside ADGM may be cheaper, but it will not give an ADGM company the address its licence needs.
If you also need to understand how seats relate to visas, see our guides on visas per desk and dedicated desk visa capacity versus seating.

Choose a Flexi Desk at AED 1,000 for lighter use and a Dedicated Desk at AED 1,150 for a permanent desk and an ADGM-suitable address, and use day passes to try the space.
